  The symptoms depend on the type of arthritis but more common symptoms include:
  • Inflammation or swelling in and around the joints
  • Joint pain, tenderness and stiffness
  • Difficulty in moving the joints the joints
  • Warmth and redness of the skin over the affected joint
  • Weakness
  • Fatigue

   The causes of arthritis depend on the type of arthritis. Causes include:
  • Injury (leading to osteoarthritis)
  • Metabolic abnormalities (such as gout and pseudogout)
  • Hereditary factors
  • Any kind of illness or infection (bacterial and viral)
  • A misdirected immune system with autoimmunity (such as in rheumatoid arthritis)
  • Obesity
  • Occupational hazards
