Overview

PAMIDRONATE is a Schedule H drug.
Pamidronate is a bisphosphonate (bis FOS fo nayt) medicine that alters bone formation and breakdown in the body. This can slow bone loss and may help prevent bone fractures. Pamidronate is used to treat Paget’s disease of bone. Pamidronate is also used to treat high blood levels of calcium caused by cancer (also called hypercalcemia of malignancy). Pamidronate is also used to treat bone damage caused by certain types of cancer such as breast cancer or bone marrow cancer.

How Do I Take It?

Route of Administration: IV (Intravenous)

Precautions

Do not take calcium and vitamin D supplement if you have high blood calcium levels. If possible, avoid dental treatment while you are using this medication to prevent osteonecrosis of the jaw. It may increase the risk of heart failure in patients with heart disease. Inject slowly to reduce risk of adverse effects (e.g. injection site reactions, kidney impairment). Monitor blood counts in patients with preexisting poor blood counts.

PAMIDRONATE : Difficulty Breathing, Mouth Soreness, Jaws Pain, Groin Pain, Eyes Itching, Weakness (generalized), Mood Swings, Confusion, Irregular Heartbeat

Rare Side-Effects

PAMIDRONATE : Skin Rash, Face Swelling, Body Itching
