Overview

DROTRECOGIN ALFA is a Schedule H drug.
Drotrecogin Alfa reduces the chances of death during sepsis, a serious illness. It is no longer available in the United States since it did not show a survival benefit. Drotrecogin alfa is a recombinant form of human Activated Protein C.

How Do I Take It?

Route of Administration: IV (Intravenous)

Precautions

  • If you are allergic to any ingredient in drotrecogin alfa.
  • If you are bleeding internally or have a brain tumor or lesion.
  • Discuss with doctor if you have had a stroke within the last 3 months.
  • If you have recently (within the last 2 months) had brain or spinal surgery or suffered a severe head injury discuss with doctor.
  • If you have been severely injured and are at risk of life-threatening bleeding.
  • Give information to the doctor if you are using an epidural catheter.
