Foods to be taken
  • Include raw vegetables and fruits, whole grains like broccoli, green beans, green leafy vegetables
  • Raw pumpkin seeds, sweet potatoes, onions, citrus fruits are all good for treating tinea versicolor
  • Whole grain variants of rice, pasta, oat meal will be good substitutes
  • Take two raw cloves of garlic daily as garlic has very good anti-fungal properties
  • Yoghurt should be taken daily as it helps to maintain a good balance between the healthy bacteria on the body and fungi.
  • Use olive oil and vegetable oil

  • Coffee    
  • Chocolate
  • Sugar
  • Fruits
  • Dairy products especially cheese and yogurt
  • Breads containing yeast
  • Anything fermented like wine 

Home Remedies

  • Avoid using oily skin products.
  • Reduce your exposure to the sun. Exposure to the sun may trigger or worsen an episode, and a tan makes the rash more visible.
  • If you have to go out in the sun, consider using an anti-fungal shampoo daily for a couple of days prior to sun exposure.
  • Put on sunscreen every day. Use a non-greasy formula with a minimum sun protection factor (SPF) of 30.
  • Do not wear tight clothing.
  • Always wear clean breathable clothes, and bathe regularly twice a day if necessary. Try bathing with an antibacterial, antifungal soap.
