Coryza Symptoms

The inflammation of the mucus membranes in the nose causes
  • The nose to turn red, tender, and swollen
  • Large amounts of mucus discharge, typically resulting in the classic runny nose
  • The eyes may water if the inflammation spreads
  • Stuffy nose as the mucus blocks the nasal passages
  • People lose their sense of smell and may feel lightheaded or dizzy
  • Headache
  • With or without fever
Prolonged coryza can be associated with a cough, as the mucus may drip down the throat and irritate the trachea and lungs. These symptoms are similar to that of a normal cold infection.

Coryza Causes

  • Inhalation of droplets from infected people through cough and sneeze
  • Cold weather and changing weather
  • Low resistance due to fatigue, exhaustion, loss of sleep, stress, depression
  • Unhygienic family practices
