IOHEXOL is a Schedule H drug.
Iohexol is used in diagnosis of disease of spinal cord.Iohexol belongs to a class of drugs known as radiographic contrast agents. It enhances imaging due to its high Iodine content attenuating the beam of X-rays during examination.It is used before an x-ray or an alike test.

Precautions

  • You should not use Iohexol,if you are allergic to it.
  • Do not take iohexol if you are pregnant.
  • Your blood work may need to be checked.
  • Use with care in children.
  • Do not share your drugs with others and do not take anyone else’s drugs. Keep yourself well hydrated before consumption of any contrast media to prevent any kidney damage.
  • Inform your doctor if you are diabetic or if you have cancer, pheochromocytoma, blood disorder or thyroid disorder or if you have a history of fits, heart diseases, multiple sclerosis or alcoholism.
  • Seek immediate medical attention if you experience chest pain spreading to other parts of body, headache, and numbness after receiving iohexol.
  • Patient with any local or systemic infection which may cause infection in blood or receiving other medicine such as corticosteroids in case the contrast media has to be administered intrathecal (within the layers of spinal cord) should avoid taking Iohexol.
  • Drink lots of noncaffeine liquids after using iohexol unless told to drink less liquid by your doctor.

IOHEXOL : Diarrhoea, Gas, Abdomen Upset Stomach, Head Headache, Decreased Taste, Dizziness, Back Pain, Neck Pain, Stiff Neck, Loose Motion, Nausea, Vomit

Serious Side-Effects

IOHEXOL : Seizure, Stevens-Johnson Syndrome, Sudden Numbness Or Weakness On One Side Of Body, Difficulty Talking, Loss Of Balance, Drooping Of One Side Of Face, Eyes Blurred Vision, Chest Pain, Irregular Heartbeat, Shortness Of Breath, Weight Gain, Arms Swelling, Eyes Eye Irritation, Mouth Soreness, Throat Soreness
