Chlorpheniramine is an antihistamine that reduces the effects of natural chemical histamine in the body. Histamine can produce symptoms of sneezing, itching, watery eyes, and runny nose Chlorpheniramine is used to treat runny nose, sneezing, itching, and watery eyes caused by allergies, thecommon cold, or the flu..

Paracetamol is a pain reliever and a fever reducer. The exact mechanism of action of is not known. Paracetamol is used to treat many conditions such as a headache, muscle aches, arthritis, backache, toothaches, colds, and fevers. It relieves pain in mild arthritis but has no effect on the underlying inflammation and swelling of the joint.

Phenylephrine is a decongestant that shrinks blood vessels in the nasal passages. Dilated blood vessels can cause nasal congestion (stuffy nose). Phenylephrine is used to treat nasal and sinus congestion or congestion of the tubes that drain fluid from your inner ears called the eustachian (yoo-STAY-shun) tubes.

Sodium Citrate is used for clear mucus from lungs.Sodium Citrate is a mucolytic medication. It thins and loosens mucus (phlegm) in the nose, windpipe and lungs making it easier to cough out.

Precautions for KOLQ C PLUS SYP and its Constituents


  • Avoid excess dosage.
  • Avoid long-term use of this medication.
  • Caution should be exercised in patients with history of asthma, lung disease, heart problems, high blood pressure, sugar, blood vessel problems, stroke, increased eye pressure, intestinal blockage, ulcer, urinary obstruction, enlarged prostate, seizures, overactive thyroid, any allergy, who are taking other medications, elderly, children, during pregnancy and breast feeding.


Caution should be exercised in patients with history of asthma, bleeding problems, growths in the nose, heart, kidney or liver disease, liver inflammation, high blood pressure, chickenpox, anxiety, trouble in sleeping, ulcers, stomach problems, stroke, Kawasaki syndrome, any allergy, who are taking other medications, during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Avoid alcohol consumption. It should not be used in children with infections such as flu, chickenpox or viral infections. Avoid large amount of caffeinated beverages while taking this medication. It may reduce platelet counts; avoid injury or bruising.
Do not give phenylephrine containing products to children younger than 4 years of age. It may cause serious side effects or cause of death in children. Do not use this medication for longer duration, it may cause rebound congestion in prolonged or excessive use of nasal or eye drops. Caution should be exercised in patients with history of severe increase in thyroid hormone, severe heart disease, diabetes, prostate enlargement, during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
  • Do not use sodium citrate enema excessively as long term use of this medicine may lead to diarrhea and fluid loss.
  • Sodium citrate should be taken after meals to prevent stomach or intestinal side effects.
  • Do not take if you are allergic to sodium citrate or any of its ingredients.
  • Do not give to patients with diabetes, heart or kidney disease, high blood pressure (hypertension), sugar intolerance,Addison’s disease ,aluminium toxicity or patients on a low salt (sodium) diet.
  • Do not give to patients with inflammatory digestive tract or bowel diseases (e.g. Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis).
  • Pregnant or breastfeeding women.

Symptoms of Overdosage

PARACETAMOL over-dosage can result in: Loss Of Appetite, Nausea, Vomit, Abdomen Pain, Weakness (generalized), Upper Abdomen Pain, Dark Colored (brown) Urine, Eyes Yellow Eyes

CHLORPHENIRAMINE : Fever, Wheezing, Tightness, Difficulty Breathing, Hoarse Voice, Face Swelling, Drowsiness, Fatigue (tiredness), Nervousness, Frequent Urination, Arms Joint Pain, Eyes Double Vision (with One Eye Covered)
PHENYLEPHRINE : Hives, Skin Rash, Blood Pressure, High, Body Itching, Irregular Heartbeat, Difficulty Sleeping, Eyes Blurred Vision, Chest Discomfort, Wheezing, Shortness Of Breath, Nervousness, Head Headache, Restless Or Irritability, Seizures (uncontrollable Jerking Of Limbs)
SODIUM CITRATE : Diarrhoea, Abdomen Upset Stomach, Nausea, Vomit, Loose Motion
