ARKAMIN 100MG TAB is composed of: CLONIDINE (100 MCG)

Clonidine is used in the treatment of high blood pressure. It can also be used to prevent migraine attacks and hot flushes that may occur in women during the menopause.Clonidine is an alpha-2 agonist. It works by relaxing blood vessels which makes the heart more efficient at pumping blood around the body. Clonidine lowers blood pressure by decreasing the levels of certain chemicals in your blood. This allows your blood vessels to relax and your heart to beat more slowly and easily.The Catapres brand of clonidine is used to treat hypertension (high blood pressure). The Kapvay brand is used to treat attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).

Precautions for ARKAMIN 100MG TAB and its Constituents


  •  Do not discontinue Clonidine abruptly. Dosage must be reduced gradually.
  •  Dizziness or fainting may occur, especially when rising from a lying or sitting position.    Getting up slowly may help improve the problem.
  •  Avoid driving or using machinery if you feel dizzy after taking Clonidine.
  •  Record your blood pressure as directed.
  •  Notify your doctor if you’re pregnant or breastfeeding.
  •   Eat healthy (low-fat, high-fibre, low-sodium diet), quit smoking, limit alcohol intake, increase your physical activity, watch your weight, and reduce stress.
  • You should not take this medicine if you are allergic to clonidine.Take clonidine exactly as it was prescribed for you. Follow all directions on your prescription label. Your doctor may occasionally change your dose to make sure you get the best results. Do not take this medicine in larger or smaller amounts or for longer than recommended.
  • Do not use two forms of clonidine at the same time. This medicine is also available as a transdermal patch worn on the skin.
  • Do not crush, chew, or break an extended-release tablet. Swallow it whole. Tell your doctor if you have trouble swallowing the tablet.
  • Call your doctor if you are sick with vomiting. Prolonged illness can make it harder for your body to absorb this medicine, which may lead to withdrawal symptoms. This is especially important for a child taking clonidine.
