Overview

LIRAGLUTIDE is a Schedule H drug.
Liraglutide is an anti-diabetic medication. It works by increasing the release of insulin from the pancreas, decreases hormones that raise blood sugar levels, slows down digestion and reduces appetite. Liraglutide is used in the treatment of type 2 diabetes. It is used in addition to diet and exercise to improve blood sugar control in adults with type 2 diabetes.

Precautions

Caution should be exercised in patients with history of type 2 diabetes, alcohol abuse, history of kidney or liver problems, thyroid cancer, pancreas inflammation, gallstones, trouble in digesting food, who are taking other medications, any allergy, during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Follow the diet and exercise program as directed by your physician. It may lead to dehydration if diarrhea, nausea, or vomiting occurs; consult with your doctor before taking this medication.  Monitor calcitonin levels, thyroid ultrasound, fasting blood glucose, or hemoglobin A1c regularly while taking this medication.
