Lamotrigine treats certain types of seizures and help regulate mood in those with bipolar disorder.Lamotrigine is an anti-epileptic medication, also called an anticonvulsant.Lamotrigine is used either alone or in combination with other medications to treat epileptic seizures in adults and children. Lamotrigine is also used to delay mood episodes in adults with bipolar disorder (manic depression).It controls seizures or fits by decreasing the abnormal and excessive activity of the nerve cells in the brain.

Precautions

• You should not take lamotrigine if you are allergic to it.
• Do not start or stop taking seizure medication during pregnancy without your doctor’s advice. Follow all directions on your prescription label and read all medication guides or instruction sheets. Your doctor may occasionally change your dose. Use the medicine exactly as directed
• .Do not crush, chew, or break the regular or the extended-release tablet. Swallow it whole.
• Do not stop using lamotrigine suddenly, even if you feel fine. Stopping suddenly may cause increased seizures.
• This medicine may affect a drug-screening urine test and you may have false results.
• Tell the laboratory staff that you use lamotrigine.
• Do not take two doses at one time.
• Avoid driving or hazardous activity until you know how this medicine will affect you. Your reactions could be impaired.It should be taken with food to avoid stomach upset.
• Stop taking Lamotrigine and inform your doctor if you notice a rash, especially if accompanied with fever,  as it may be life-threatening.
• Lamotrigine may cause headaches. Drink plenty of water and take a suitable pain killer. Inform your doctor if it does not go away.

Symptoms of Overdosage

LAMOTRIGINE over-dosage can result in: Eyes Blurred Vision, Loss Of Coordination, Lightheadedness, Drowsiness, Eyes Jerking Eye Movements

LAMOTRIGINE : Skin Rash, Anxiety, Depression, Seizure, Diarrhoea, Indigestion, Runny Nose, Difficulty Sleeping, Weight Loss (unintentional), Chest Pain, Confusion, Restless Or Irritability, Loss Of Coordination, Eyes Double Vision (without One Eye Covered), Head Headache, Dry Mouth, Back Pain, Agitation, Fatigue (tiredness)
