Diethylpropion is a stimulant similar to an amphetamine. Diethylpropion is an appetite suppressant that affects the central nervous system. Diethylpropion is used as together with diet and exercise to treat obesity in people who have a body mass index (BMI) of at least 30 kilograms per square meter. Diethylpropion is usually given after diet and exercise have been tried without success.

Precautions

Drinking alcohol with this medicine can cause side effects.Do not use diethylpropion if you have used an MAO inhibitor in the past 14 days. A dangerous drug interaction could occur. MAO inhibitors include isocarboxazid, linezolid, methylene blue injection, phenelzine, rasagiline, selegiline, tranylcypromine, and others.

Symptoms of Overdosage

DIETHYLPROPION over-dosage can result in: Restless Or Irritability, Rapid Breathing, Confusion, Hallucinations, Eyes Enlarged (dilated) Pupils, Seizures (uncontrollable Jerking Of Limbs)
