Overview

DOBUTAMINE is a Schedule H drug.
Dobutamine stimulates heart muscle and improves blood flow by helping the heart pump better. Dobutamine is used short-term to treat cardiac decompensation due to weakened heart muscle. Dobutamine is usually given after other heart medicines have been tried without success.

Route of Administration: IV (Intravenous)

Precautions

Correct the decreased blood volume prior to treatment. It may increase the risk of rapid ventricular response in patients with abnormal heart rate. Caution needed for patients with history of liver disease, allergies, endocrine tumor, and irregular heartbeat/arrhythmia, hyperthyroidism, elderly, newborns, pregnancy. Monitor ECG, blood pressure regularly while taking this medication.
Avoid excess dosage.

DOBUTAMINE over-dosage can result in: Difficulty Breathing
