TELAVANCIN is a Schedule H drug.
Telavancin is an antibiotic that fights bacteria.Telavancin is used to treat severe skin infections. Telavancin is also used to treat pneumonia caused by bacteria in a hospital setting, or pneumonia that can develop while using a ventilator.It works by stopping the growth of bacteria.

How Do I Take It?

Route of Administration: IV (Intravenous)

Precautions

  • You may not be able to use telavancin if you are pregnant.
  • You should not use this medicine if you are allergic to telavancin, or if you are also using a certain type of heparin.
  • Telavancin is usually given once every 24 hours for 7 to 21 days. Follow all directions on your prescription label.
  • Do not use telavancin in larger or smaller amounts or for longer than recommended.
  • Telavancin must be mixed with a liquid  before using it.
  • Do not use telavancin if it has particles in it.
  • After mixing telavancin, store in the refrigerator and use within 72 hours.
  • Mixed medicine must be used within 4 hours if you keep it at room temperature.
  • Antibiotic medicines can cause diarrhea, which may be a sign of a new infection. If you have diarrhea that is watery or bloody, call your doctor.
  • Do not use anti-diarrhea medicine unless your doctor tells you to.It may cause dizziness, do not drive a car or operate machinery while taking this medication.
  • Avoid long-term use of this medication; otherwise it may cause secondary infection.
  • Telavancin may cause live bacterial vaccines to not work as well. Do not have any immunizations/vaccinations while using this medication.

TELAVANCIN : Diarrhoea, Nausea, Vomit, Unusual Taste In Mouth, Drowsiness, Weakness (generalized), Decreased Urination, Increased Thirst, Decreased Appetite, Skin Irritation, Increased Sensitivity To Cold

Serious Side-Effects

TELAVANCIN : Difficulty Breathing, Blood Or Red Colored Urine, Loss Of Appetite, Feet Swelling, Decreased Taste, Irregular Heartbeat, Dizziness, Fainting

Rare Side-Effects

TELAVANCIN : Clostridium Difficile Infection, Skin Rash, Itchy Skin, Abdomen Pain, Abdomen Stomach Cramps, Bloody Or Red Colored Stools

TELAVANCIN can interfere with: Long QT Syndrome, Colitis, Acute Liver Failure, Diabetes Mellitus, Congestive Heart Disease, Hypertension, Acute Renal Failure
