PROLET TAB is composed of: PRIMIDONE (25 MG)

Primidone is an anti-epileptic drug, also called an anticonvulsant.Primidone is used to control seizures.Primidone controls seizures or fits by increasing the action of GABA, a chemical messenger which suppresses the abnormal and excessive activity of the nerve cells in the brain.

Precautions


  • You should not use this medication if you are allergic to primidone or phenobarbital  or if you have porphyria.
  • To be sure this medication is helping your condition, your blood may need to be tested on a regular basis.
  • Do not miss any scheduled appointments.You may have thoughts about suicide while taking this medication.
  • Take this medication exactly as it was prescribed for you.
  • Do not take the medication in larger amounts, or take it for longer than recommended by your doctor. Follow the directions on your prescription label.
  • Primidone is usually taken 2 to 4 times daily. If you are switching to primidone from another seizure medication, you may need to start taking primidone only at bedtime.
  • Do not take extra medicine to make up the missed dose.

Symptoms of Overdosage

PRIMIDONE over-dosage can result in: Confusion, Difficulty Breathing, Eyes Double Vision (without One Eye Covered), Slow Or Irregular Breathing, Dizziness, Difficult To Wake From Sleep

PRIMIDONE : Skin Rash, Itchy Skin, Impotence, Diarrhoea, Depression, Drowsiness, Dizziness, Spinning Sensation, Nausea, Vomit, Loss Of Appetite, Eyes Blurred Vision, Restless Or Irritability, Loss Of Coordination, Weakness (generalized)

Serious Side-Effects

PRIMIDONE : Slurred Speech, Slow Heart Rate (pulse), Pale Skin, Rapid Breathing

Rare Side-Effects

PRIMIDONE : Chills, Fever, Throat Soreness, Irregular Heartbeat, Lower Back Pain, Pale Skin, Pain With Urination, Shortness Of Breath

PRIMIDONE can interfere with: Alcoholism, Porphyria, Dermatitis, Respiratory Failure, Depression, Acute Liver Failure, Acute Renal Failure, Psychosis, Adrenal Insufficiency, Panhypopituitarism, Vitamin D Deficiency
