What is Pediatric Typhoid?

Typhoid fever is a serious and sometimes life threatening infection associated with fever caused by the bacteria Salmonella typhi. The bacteria get deposited in water or food by a human carrier and are then spread to other people in the area. It is food and water borne disease.

Recovery Time

Symptoms of the disease can be mild to severe and usually disappear 2 to 5 days after antibiotic treatment begins. Without any treatment, typhoid fever and related symptoms may last a month or more and become very serious, and become fatal.

  • Through body fluid and tissue culture- stool and blood culture
  • Complete blood count
  • Other tests-ELISA urine test, Fluorescent antibody, platelet count, stool culture
