GLIPIZIDE is a Schedule H drug.
Glipizide is an oral diabetes medicine that helps control blood sugar levels by helping your pancreas produce insulin. Glipizide is used together with diet and exercise to improve blood sugar control in adults with     type 2 diabetes mellitus Glipizide is used in the treatment of type 2 diabetes. It is used in addition to diet and exercise to improve blood sugar control in adults with type 2 diabetes.Glipizide is an anti-diabetic medication (sulphonylurea). It works by increasing the amount of insulin released by the pancreas in order to lower the blood glucose.

How Do I Take It?

GLIPIZIDE is generally taken Before Food.
Route of Administration: Oral

Precautions

  •  Helps decrease high blood sugar level and avoids long-term complications of diabetes.
  •  Take just before or with the first main meal of the day (usually breakfast). Avoid skipping meals.
  •   Exercise regularly, eat a healthy diet, and take your other diabetes medicines (if prescribed) alongside.
  •  Learn how to identify and manage symptoms of hypoglycemia (low blood sugar level) such as sweating, rapid heartbeat, weakness, blurry vision, and headache, and teach your family as well.
  •  Avoid drinking alcohol.
  • You should not use this medicine if you are allergic to glipizide, or if you have diabetic ketoacidosis (call your doctor for treatment with insulin).
  • Take glipizide exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Follow all directions on your prescription label. Your doctor may occasionally change your dose. Do not take this medicine in larger or smaller amounts or for longer than recommended.
  • Take glipizide 30 minutes before a meal. If you take this medicine once daily, take it 30 minutes before breakfast.
  • Glipizide extended-release (Glucotrol XL) should be taken with breakfast.
  • Do not crush, chew, or break an extended-release tablet. Swallow it whole.

Symptoms of Overdosage

GLIPIZIDE over-dosage can result in: Rapid Heart Rate (pulse), Body Excessive Sweating, Eyes Blurred Vision, Slurred Speech, Confusion, Seizures (uncontrollable Jerking Of Limbs)

GLIPIZIDE : Essential Tremor, Dizziness, Stomach Pain, Increased Passing Gas, Increased Sensitivity To Cold, Head Headache, Confusion
