DIAZOXIDE

Overview

DIAZOXIDE is a Schedule H drug.
Diazoxide raises blood sugar by slowing the release of insulin from the pancreas. Diazoxide is used to treat low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) caused by certain cancers or other conditions that can make the pancreas release too much insulin. This medicine is for use in adults and children as young as infants.

Precautions

Caution should be exercised in patients with history of heart, kidney problems, low potassium levels in the blood, high blood pressure, aneurysm, any allergy, who are taking other medications, during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Monitor blood glucose determinations, platelet counts, and serum urea nitrogen regularly while taking this medication.

DIAZOXIDE over-dosage can result in: Dry Mouth, Fruity Odor On Breath, Abdomen Pain, Vomit, Difficulty Stopping Urine Stream, Confusion

DIAZOXIDE : Gout, Eosinophilia, Loss Of Appetite, Nausea, Vomit, Abdomen Pain, Palpitations (fluttering In Chest), Blood Or Red Colored Urine, Eyes Blurred Vision, Eyes Double Vision (with One Eye Covered), Fever
