MARAVIROC

Overview

MARAVIROC is a Schedule H drug.
Maraviroc is an antiviral medicine that prevents certain viral cells from multiplying in your body.
Maraviroc is used with other medications to treat CCR5-tropic human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) type 1. HIV causes the acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS). This medicine is for use in adults and children who are at least 2 years old. Maraviroc is not a cure for HIV or AIDS.

Precautions

Caution should be exercised in patients with history of low blood pressure, dizziness, hepatitis B or C, liver, heart or kidney disease, who are on dialysis, any allergy, who are taking other medications, elderly, children less than 16 years old, during pregnancy and breastfeeding. It may cause dizziness, lightheadedness, or fainting, do not drive a car or operate machinery and get up slowly from bed while taking this medication. Avoid contact with people who have infections. Patient may develop with increased risk of cancer; consult with your doctor about this risk before taking this medication. It does not stop the spread of HIV to others; avoid sexual contact, sharing of needles, or injection supplies. Patient may develop Immune Reconstitution Syndrome.

Serious Side-Effects

MARAVIROC : Chest Pain, Jaws Pain, Left Arm Pain

Rare Side-Effects

MARAVIROC : Skin Rash, Body Itching, Face Swelling, Dizziness, Difficulty Breathing

Disease Interactions

MARAVIROC can interfere with: Acute Renal Failure, Hypotension, Hypertension
