Zidovudine is an antiviral medicine that prevents human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) from multiplying in your body. Zidovudine is used to treat HIV, the virus that can cause acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS). Zidovudine is also given during pregnancy to prevent an HIV-infected woman from passing the virus to her baby. Zidovudine is not a cure for HIV or AIDS.
Nevirapine is an antiviral medicine that prevents human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) from multiplying in your body. Nevirapine is used to treat HIV, the virus that can cause acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS). Nevirapine is not a cure for HIV or AIDS, and should not be used to prevent HIV. Nevirapine oral solution (liquid) is for use in adults and children as young as 15 days old. Nevirapine extended-release tablets are for use in adults and children who are at least 6 years old.

Lamivudine is an antiviral medication. It prevents the multiplication of the virus in human cells. This stops the virus from producing new viruses and clears up your infection. Lamivudine is used in the treatment of HIV infection and chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection.

Precautions


Caution should be exercised in patients with history of bone marrow depression, low blood counts, liver, kidney diseases, obesity, any allergy, who are taking other medications, during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Avoid contact with people who have infections. Avoid sexual contact with your partner in order to avoid transmission of HIV infection. Monitor liver, kidney functions, and complete blood cell counts while taking this medication.
Caution should be exercised in patients with history of kidney disease, liver impairment, during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Patient may develop with increased risk of liver damage, serious life threatening allergic reactions, if it is so consult with your doctor. It may affect the effectiveness of oral contraceptives; consult with your doctor for other methods to prevent pregnancy while taking this medication. It may lead to redistribution/accumulation of body fat in many parts of body. Avoid drinking alcohol. It may increase your risk of liver damage.
Caution should be exercised in patients with history of hepatitis B, kidney disease, pancreas disease, any allergy, who are taking other medications, during pregnancy and breastfeeding.  It may cause drowsiness or dizziness, do not drive a car or operate machinery while taking this medication. Avoid alcohol consumption. It should not be used in children less than 2 years old. It may affect blood sugar level; monitor sugar level regularly while taking this medication. Do not have unprotected sex or share razors or toothbrushes. Talk with your doctor about safe ways to prevent HIV transmission during sex. Sharing drug or medicine needles is never safe, even for a healthy person.
