Foods to be taken
  • Vitamins A, C and E are important antioxidants which improve immunity and prevent bacterial and viral infections.
  • Vitamin A rich foods milk, eggs, liver, fortified cereals, darkly colored orange or green vegetables (such as carrots, sweet potatoes, pumpkin, and kale), and orange fruits such as cantaloupe, apricots, peaches, papayas, and mangoes.
  • Vitamin C rich foods include citrus fruits, strawberries, kiwi, guava, peppers, tomatoes, broccoli, and spinach.
  • Vitamin E rich foods, such as vegetable oils, nuts, and green leafy vegetables, avocados, wheat germ, and whole grains are also good sources.
  • Zinc is an important ingredient in multivitamins as it is essential for health and helps to enhance the immune system. Zinc is abundant in sea food, spinach, nuts, whole grains.

Home Remedies

  • Apply a warm compress. Wet a clean washcloth with hot water and place it gently on top of your closed eye for ten minutes, repeating four times a day. Warm compresses not only ease pain and inflammation, but also speed the healing process.
  • Place slices of cucumber over the infected eyelid to reduce swelling and soreness. You can also apply tomato slices.
  • Soak a clove in water and gently rub against the affected eyelid. This will help to reduce the pain
  • Don’t press or squeeze the stye in order to drain it. Don’t wear eye makeup.
  • Avoid straining your eyes
  • Do not touch or rub your eyes
