BENZOIC ACID is a Schedule H drug.

Benzoic Acid is used in the treatment of skin infections andfungal infections. Benzoic Acid stops the growth of fungus by preventing them from making their protective covering.Benzoic acid helps prevent infection caused by bacteria.Benzoic acid and salicylic acid topical (for the skin) is a combination medicine used to treat skin irritation and inflammation caused by burns, insect bites, fungal infections, or eczema.

Precautions

  • Do not use benzoic acid and consult your doctor if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to benzoic acid or any of the ingredients in formulation.
  • Use with caution if it is to be applied over large areas of skin. Do not ingest benzoic acid.
  • Keep away from eyes and inner membranes of nose, mouth etc.
  • Youshould not use this medicine if you are allergic to benzoic acid, salicylic acid, or polyethylene glycol.
  • Do nottake by mouth. Benzoic acid and salicylic acid is for use only on the skin. Do not use this medicine on open wounds or on sunburned, windburned, dry, chapped, or irritated skin.
  • If this medicine gets in your eyes, nose,mouth, rectum, or vagina, rinse with water.
  • Wash yourhands before and after applying benzoic acid and salicylic acid.
  • Gentlyrinse the affected skin with saline or water before treating it with this medicine. Pat the skin dry with a clean towel or cotton gauze.Keep the treated skin area clean and expose it to air whenever possible.
  • Do not cover the treatedskin area with an adhesive bandage unless your doctor tells you to.
  •  Do notallow the tip of the medicine tube to touch any surfaces, including the skin you are treating.
  • Call yourdoctor if your symptoms do not improve after 7 days, or if they get worse while using benzoic acid and salicylic acid.
