Precautions

  • Phenelzine may impair your thinking or reactions. Be careful if you drive or do anything that requires you to be alert.
  • Do not use this medication if you have used another MAOI such as isocarboxazid,rasagiline,selegiline or tranylcypromine  within the past 14 days.
  • Do not take phenelzine if you are allergic to it.Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Do not take in larger or smaller amounts or for longer than recommended. Follow the directions on your prescription label.
  • Your doctor may occasionally change your dose to make sure you get the best results.
  • Your blood pressure will need to be checked often. Visit your doctor regularly.
  • It may take several weeks before your symptoms improve.
  • Do not take extra medicine to make up the missed dose.
  • To minimize dizziness and the risk of fainting, get up slowly when rising from a sitting or lying position.
  • Avoid strenuous exercise while taking this medication.
