PRALIDOXIME is a Schedule H drug.
Pralidoxime reverses muscle weakness or paralysis caused by a poison or certain drug overdose.Pralidoxime is used as an antidote to treat poisoning by a chemical or pesticide This medication is not effective as an antidote for all types of pesticide poisonings.Pralidoxime reactivates the enzymes blocked by many pesticides (organophosphates). It is an antidote used in the poisoning of these pesticides.

Precautions

  • Pralidoxime is usually given as soon as possible after the onset of poisoning or overdose symptoms.
  • You may need to receive pralidoxime for several days.
  • Pralidoxime must be given slowly.It may cause drowsiness, blurred vision, or dizziness, do not drive a car or operate machinery while taking this medication.
  • Pralidoxime is not effective in the treatment of poisoning due to phosphorus, inorganic phosphates, or organophosphates not having anticholinesterase activity.
  • Do not take pralidoxime as an antidote for poisoning due to pesticides of carbamate class, as it may increase the toxicity of carbaryl.
  • Tell your doctor if you are or planning to become pregnant or are breastfeeding.

Symptoms of Overdosage

PRALIDOXIME over-dosage can result in: Head Headache, Eyes Change In Vision, Rapid Heart Rate (pulse)
