AVANAFIL

Overview

Avanafil relaxes muscles of the blood vessels and increases blood flow to particular areas of the body. Avanafil helps men with erectile dysfunction get and maintain an erection long enough for sexual intercourse. Do not take avanafil if you are taking or have recently taken nitrates or nitroglycerin. Avanafil belongs to a group of drugs called phosphodiesterase (PDE) inhibitors. This medication comes in tablet form and is taken typically once a day, on an as needed basis, approximately 30 minutes before sexual activity. Common side effects of avanafil include headache, flushing, and back pain.

Precautions

  • Taking avanafil with certain other medicines can cause a sudden and serious decrease in blood pressure.
  • Avanafil is not for use in women. It is not known whether avanafil will harm an unborn baby.
  • Although avanafil is not for use in women, it is not known if this medicine passes into breast milk or if it could harm a nursing baby.
  • Do not take this medicine in larger or smaller amounts or for longer than recommended.
  • Avanafil is usually taken only when needed, about 30 minutes before sexual activity. Follow your doctor’s instructions.
  • Avanafil can help achieve an erection when sexual stimulation occurs. An erection will not occur just by taking a pill.
  • Do not take avanafil more than once a day. Allow 24 hours to pass between doses.
  • Caution should be exercised in patients with history of heart disease, recently undergone heart surgery, stroke, low or high blood pressure, deformed penis shape, vision problem, bleeding problems, kidney or liver disease, any allergy and who are taking other medications.
  • Patient may develop with increased risk of vision loss, if it is so consult with your doctor immediately.
