Modafinil is a medication that promotes wakefulness.Modafinil modulates the levels of chemical messengers in the brain and exerts a stimulant effect to reduce extreme sleepiness.This medication does not cure these sleep disorders and may not get rid of all your sleepiness.Modafinil does not take the place of getting enough sleep.

Precautions

  • Take the drug about 1 hour before you need to be fully alert.
  • Limit intake of caeffine.
  • Do not stop the drug suddenly as you can get withdrawl symptoms.
  • Do not drink alcohol whil taking this drug.Do not give modafinil to children below 18 years of age.
  • Do not take the medicine if you are allergic to it or to any other content (e.g. lactose) in the medicine.
  • Do not drive or operate heavy machinery after taking modafinil as it may cause dizziness or blurred vision.
  • Inform your doctor before taking the medicine if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant or breast-feeding a baby.
  • Follow all directions on your prescription label.
  • Do not take this medicine in larger or smaller amounts or for longer than recommended.
  • Modafinil may be habit-forming. Never share modafinil with another person, especially someone with a history of drug abuse or addiction.
  • Modafinil is usually taken each morning to prevent daytime sleepiness, or 1 hour before the start of a work shift to treat work-time sleep disorders.You may take modafinil with or without food.
  • Modafinil is usually given for 12 weeks or less.
  • Taking modafinil does not take the place of getting enough sleep.
  • Avoid taking the medicine if you do not plan to be awake for several hours. Skip the missed dose if it is almost bedtime.
  • Do not take extra medicine to make up the missed dose.
  • Avoid other dangerous activities until you know how modafinil will affect your level of wakefulness.

MODAFINIL over-dosage can result in: Hallucinations, Restless Or Irritability, Irregular Heartbeat, Confusion, Chest Pain
