Overview

NISOLDIPINE is a Schedule H drug.
Nisoldipine is calcium channel blocker that relaxes blood vessels and improves blood flow. Nisoldipine is used to treat hypertension. Nisoldipine is used with or without other medications to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). Lowering high blood pressure helps prevent strokes, heart attacks, and kidney problems. Take nisoldipine on an empty stomach. Swallow tablets whole. Do not chew, divide, or crush tablets.

Precautions

  • Before taking nisoldipine, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to it or to other dihydropyridine calcium channel blockers (such as amlodipine, nifedipine) or if you have any other allergies.
  • Before using this medication, tell your doctor or pharmacist your medical history, especially of a certain structural heart problem, liver disease.
  • This drug may make you dizzy. Alcohol or marijuana can make you more dizzy. Do not drive, use machinery, or do anything that needs alertness until you can do it safely. Limit alcoholic beverages.
  • Before having surgery, tell your doctor or dentist about all the products you use (including prescription drugs, nonprescription drugs, and herbal products).
  • During pregnancy, this medication should be used only when clearly needed. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor.
  • It is not known if this medication passes into breast milk. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.

Food Interactions

  • Grapefruit and grapefruit juice may interact with nisoldipine and lead to potentially dangerous effects. Discuss the use of grapefruit products with your doctor.
  • Using nisoldipine together with multivitamin with minerals can decrease the effects of nisoldipine. Talk with your doctor before using nisoldipine and multivitamin with minerals together.
