Overview

RALTEGRAVIR is a Schedule H drug.
Raltegravir is an antiviral medicine that prevents human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) from multiplying in your body. Raltegravir is used to treat HIV, the virus that can cause acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS). Raltegravir is not a cure for HIV or AIDS. Raltegravir is for use in adults and children who weigh at least 4.4 pounds (2 kilograms)

Route of Administration: Oral

Precautions

Caution should be exercised in patients with history of liver problems or hepatitis B or C, muscle weakness, who are taking other medications, any allergy, elderly, children, during pregnancy and breastfeeding. It may cause dizziness, do not drive a car or operate machinery while taking this medication. Avoid stopping of this medication due to short supply. Store sufficient quantity. Avoid sexual intercourse during the treatment; otherwise infection may spread. Patient may develop Immune Reconstitution Syndrome.

RALTEGRAVIR over-dosage can result in: Difficulty Breathing

RALTEGRAVIR : Hives, Blood Or Red Colored Urine, Dark Colored (brown) Urine, Rapid Heart Rate (pulse), Fever, Nausea, Back Pain, Vomit

Serious Side-Effects

RALTEGRAVIR : Nausea, Vomit, Loss Of Appetite, Abdomen Pain, Dark Colored (brown) Urine, Eyes Yellow Eyes

Rare Side-Effects

RALTEGRAVIR : Fever, Mouth Blisters, Eyes Redness, Arms Joint Pain, Face Swelling, Dizziness, Difficulty Breathing

Disease Interactions

RALTEGRAVIR can interfere with: Acute Liver Failure, Myopathy, Phenylketonuria
