Varicose Veins: Symptom and Causes

Symptoms

Varicose veins look dark blue, swollen, and twisted under the skin. Other mild symptoms include:
  • Visible and swollen veins
  • Fullness, heaviness, aching and sometimes pain in the legs
  • Itching
  • Swelling in feet and ankles (especially in evening)

Causes

Varicose veins are very common in the people who do occupation which requires long hours of standing (e.g. bus conductor, farmer, and labour).
Risk factors include:
  • Hereditary
  • Aging
  • Pregnancy
  • Overweight/obesity
  • Chronic smokers
