Symptoms

Tinnitus symptoms include these types of phantom (pitch from low to high) noises in your ears:
  • Ringing              
  • Buzzing
  • Roaring
  • Clicking
  • Hissing
  • Whistling
  • Squealing

Causes

A number of health conditions can cause or worsen tinnitus. In many cases, an exact cause is never found.
  • Inner ear cell damage
  • Tiny, delicate hairs in your inner ear
  • Injuries or conditions that affect the nerves in your ear
  • Age-related hearing loss
  • Exposure to loud noise.
  • Earwax blockage.
  • Diseases of the heart or blood vessels
  • Brain tumors
  • Hormonal changes in women
  • Thyroid abnormalities
  • Migraine headaches
