Prevention Tips

  • Vaccination for travelers
  • Wash hands with soap and water frequently
  • Use bottled, boiled, or chemically treated water to wash dishes, brush your teeth, wash and prepare food, or make ice
  • Eat food that is completely cooked and hot
  • Stick to fruits and vegetables that you can peel yourself
  • Avoid unpasteurized milk and its products
  • Avoid staying at places where there is stagnant water
  • Dispose of feces in a sanitary manner to prevent contamination of water and food sources
  • Avoid junk food

Watch Out

  • Watery stools and blood in stools
  • Fever

When to See Doctor

Consult your doctor if
  • You develop severe diarrhoea (more than 4 times a day)
  • You have signs of dehydration (dry mouth, reduced urine, thirst)
