Try to move your foot and ankle up and down/ in and out as far as possible and comfortable without pain.
- Try to move your foot and ankle in a circle as large as possible and comfortable without pain.
Foment the foot of calcaneal pain in a tub of hot water dipped till ankle joint. Then take out from this and put the foot in cold freeze water tub. Repeat this for 5 minutes keeping in each tub for 5-10 seconds.
Rest (staying off the injured foot) is needed to allow the fracture to heal.
Ice reduces swelling and pain; apply a bag of ice covered with a thin towel to the affected area.
- Compression (wrapping the foot in an elastic bandage or wearing a compression stocking) and elevation (keeping the foot even with or slightly above the heart level) also reduce the swelling.
