Cervical Spondylosis: Symptom and Causes

Symptoms

  • Neck pain that may spread to shoulders and arms
  • Neck stiffness that gets worse over time
  • Numbness or abnormal sensations in the shoulders, arms, or (rarely) legs
  • Headaches, especially in the back of the head
  • Lack of coordination and difficulty walking
  • Loss of bladder or bowel control

Causes

Spondylosis is age related degeneration but it is not limited to a specific age group and can affect a person at any age, however, older people are more susceptible.
Other factors that can make a person more likely to develop spondylosis are
  • Being overweight and not exercising
  • Work activity
  • Past neck injury (often several years old)
  • Past spine surgery
  • Genetics
