Symptoms

The symptoms of sinusitis include:
  • Stuffy or runny nose
  • Daytime cough that lasts for 10 to 14 days or longer without improvement
  • Continuous thick green or yellow mucus discharge from the nose
  • Blocked nose causing difficulty in breathing
  • Persistent dull pain or swelling around the eyes
  • Tenderness or pain in or around the cheekbones
  • Feeling of pressure in your head
  • Headache when you wake up in the morning or when bending over
  • Bad breath, even after brushing your teeth
  • Toothache or pain in the jaw
  • Fever greater than 102°F (39°C)
  • Tiredness
  • Loss of taste or smell
  • Ear pain
Sinusitis symptoms

Causes

The infection occurs due to virus, bacteria or fungus. Other conditions like influenza or flu, tooth infection and allergies like pollens, dust, asthma, hayfever may also cause sinusitis.
