  • Limit intake of foods rich in purine like meat, fish

  • Limit or avoid alcohol consumption
  • Stay away from coffee and other caffeinated products
  • Limit intake of sugar and its products
  • Exercise regularly and maintain a healthy bodyweight
  • Keep yourself well hydrated to prevent further gout attacks

  • Fever may appear with acute attacks

  • Deposition of urate crystals under the skin in nodules called tophi this is especially seen in ears, fingers, hands, feet
  • Urate crystals may collect in the urinary tract of people with gout, causing kidney stones
