Pneumonia is an infection of the lungs caused by bacteria, viruses, fungi, parasites. It is characterized by the inflammation of the alveoli (microscopic air sacs in the lungs that absorb oxygen). It is an infection in which these air sacs in the lungs fill with pus and other liquid.
