What is Pediatric Conjunctivitis?

Inflammation of the conjunctiva is called as Conjunctivitis or as pink eye syndrome. Conjunctiva is a thin clear tissue that lies over the white part of the eye. It is an eye infection caused by bacteria or viruses. 

Recovery Time

Recovery time taken for conjunctivitis depends upon the type, causes, and symptoms.
It can be 12 hrs to 3 days for a viral infection
It can be 2 days to 2 weeks for a bacterial infection

Diagnosis

A sample of the discharge is taken from the eye and is examined under a microscope or grown in a culture to determine if it is contagious.
