IDK: Meaning, Diagnosis and Overview

What is IDK?

Internal derangement of knee is a chronic disorder of the knee due to a torn, ruptured or deranged meniscus (a disk of cartilage that serves as a cushion between the ends of bones that meet at a joint) of the knee, or a partial or complete cruciate rupture, with or without injury to the capsular ligament of the knee, resulting in on-going or intermittent signs and symptoms such as pain, instability, or abnormal mobility of that knee.

Recovery Time

Recovery from internal derangement of the knee depends on timely and accurate diagnosis, the nature of the condition, adherence to recovery schedules and rehabilitation recommendations, and the avoidance of further aggravation to the knee.
Recovery without surgery may take six to eight weeks.
Recovery with surgery may take three to four months.
