  • Green tea is another excellent source of antioxidants, replace cup of coffee/tea with green tea.
  • Beta carotene and vitamins E and C are important food cures for cataract. Foods that are rich in these micronutrients include pumpkins, carrots, sweet potatoes, tomatoes, nuts, spinach, fish and olive oil.
Foods to be avoided
  • Sugar, honey, and other sweeteners, soda and other sugary drinks, candy, baked goods, sugary cereals, anything made with white flour (including white bread and regular pasta), and white rice.

Yoga and Exercise

  • Exercises that encourage the eye to focus may be beneficial in preventing and treating mild cases of cataracts. One such exercise is commonly called tromboning. In this exercise, you hold an object at arms length. Inhale and move the object closer to your face until it touches the end of your nose. As you exhale, extend the object to arms length again, always keeping your eyes focused on the object.
  • Focus on a distant object in a room for a few seconds, and then look to a point on the floor in front of you. Next, roll your eyeballs upward, hold, then roll them downward and hold. Now look to the left and then to the right, focusing on different objects at eye level on either side of you
  • Yoga cannot cure eye cataracts, but it may improve your condition. Bharamari pranayama is helpful in curing cataract.
