Food and Nutrition

Foods to be taken
  • Eat lots of vegetables, wheat bran, whole-grain breads and cereals and fruit. Make sure you are getting enough water – six to eight glasses per day. Insufficient fluids can contribute to constipation.
  • Consume raw juices of carrots, pine apples and oranges
  • Apples, pineapples, oranges, peaches, pears, grapes and papayas are best to consume
  • Consume healthy amounts of nuts, molasses, lentils, beans, green leafy vegetables, tomatoes, cabbage, onions etc.
Foods to be avoided
  • Foods with white flour and white sugar should not be consumed. This includes biscuits, cakes, pastries
  • Rice, cheeses, preservatives are also unhealthy

Yoga and Exercise

30 minutes of moderate-intensity exercise, walking helps encourage regular bowel movements, limiting the onset of large stools that harden and become difficult to pass.
Other moderate-intensity exercises include vacuuming and mowing.
Bath Exercise- This exercise promotes blood flow to the area, allowing for maximum healing. To start, fill a tub as high as possible with warm water. While sitting in the tub, contract the muscle used to stop the passage of stool from the anus. Next, concentrate on relaxing this muscle. Perform this contraction and relaxation every 5 minutes while in the tub. Take baths in the tub three times a day, performing this exercise during each bath.

  • Dhanurasana
  • Pavanamukta asana
  • Trikonasana

Home Remedies

  • Drink plenty of Water
  • Exercise regularly
  • Shower daily and keep your buttocks area clean throughout the day after each bowel movement
  • Increase your daily Dietary Fiber intake
  • Use a Sitz Bath   (the rectal area is immersed in warm water for approximately 10 to 15 minutes two to three times) daily to help relieve pain and to clean the anus
