Flu: Symptom and Causes

Symptoms

Flu symptoms include:
  • A 100oF or higher fever or feeling feverish (not everyone with the flu has a fever)
  • A cough and/or sore throat
  • A runny or stuffy nose
  • Headaches and/or body aches
  • Chills
  • Fatigue
  • Nausea, vomiting, and/or diarrhoea (most common in children)

Causes

The flu is caused by an influenza virus.
Flu is passed from person to person by droplets, when someone with the infection sneezes or coughs. It can also spread by touching a surface where the virus has been deposited.
