Food and Nutrition

Food to be taken
  • Intake of calcium rich foods, including beans, almonds, and dark green leafy vegetables (such as spinach and kale).
  • Intake of antioxidant rich foods, including fruits (such as blueberries, cherries, and tomatoes) and vegetables (such as squash and bell pepper).
  • Fewer red meats and more lean meats, cold water fish, tofu or beans are to be taken.
  • Use healthy cooking oils, such as olive oil orÿcoconut oil.
  • Drink plenty of water.
Food to be avoided
  • Food allergens, including dairy, wheat (gluten), corn, soy, preservatives, and food additives are to be avoided.
  • Refined foods, such as white breads, pasta, and sugar are to be avoided.
  • Baked goods as cookies, crackers, cakes, French fries, onion rings, donuts, processed foods, and margarine contain trans fatty acids and are to be avoided.
  • Coffee, Tobacco, alcohol and other stimulants are to be avoided.

Home Remedies

  • Multivitamin supplements can be helpful
  • Probiotic supplements may help for the maintenance of immune health
  • Grape seed extracts have antifungal and antibacterial properties
  • Antibiotics can be taken for severe cases
