Symptoms

Even though you have it there might be no symptoms observed. But the common ones are
  • Yellow skin and dark urine
  • Fatigue (Temporary loss of strength and energy)
  • Loss of appetite
  • Nausea
Acute hepatitis
  • Fever
  • Flu like illness
  • Joint pains
  • Jaundice
  • Pain in upper right abdomen
Chronic hepatitis
  • Liver cirrhosis (interfering with normal functioning of liver)
  • Weakness
  • Weight loss
  • Breast enlargement in men
  • Spider-like blood vessels on the skin
  • Rash on palms

Causes

  • Hepatitis B infection is caused by the Hepatitis B virus (HBV).
  • It spreads by contact with the blood or body fluids (such as semen, vaginal fluids, and saliva) of a person who has the virus.
  • Have unprotected sex with an infected partner
  • Receive blood transfusion
  • Hepatitis-B infected mother
  • Tattoos and acupuncture with unclean needles
  • Share personal items (tooth brushes, nail clippers, razor etc.) with a person who has virus
  • You cannot get hepatitis B from casual contact such as hugging, kissing, sneezing, coughing, or sharing food or drinks.
