Precautions

Topotecan capsules are taken by mouth.Take the capsules with a full glass (8 ounces) of water. Do not crush or break a topotecan capsule, or use a capsule that has been accidentally broken. The medicine from a broken capsule can be dangerous if it gets in your eyes or on your skin. Contraindicated in pregnant and breastfeeding women, and hypersensitivity. Caution needed for patients with history of pre existing bone marrow depression. Frequent monitoring of blood counts during treatment. It may cause dizziness, do not drive a car or operate machinery while taking this medication. Avoid alcoholic beverages while taking this medication.
