ASTYMIN C DPS is composed of: ASCORBIC ACID (70 MG), METHIONINE (7.5 MG), L-LYSINE (4 MG), L-LEUCINE (1.6 MG), L-HISTIDINE HYDROCHLORIDE (0.75 MG), L-ISOLEUCINE (0.71 MG), L-VALINE (0.8 MG), TRYPTOPHAN (0.6 MG)

Ascorbic acid is used to treat and prevent vitamin C deficiency. Ascorbic acid (vitamin C) occurs naturally in foods such as citrus fruit, tomatoes, potatoes, and leafy vegetables. Vitamin C is important for bones and connective tissues, muscles, and blood vessels. Vitamin C also helps the body absorb iron, which is needed for red blood cell production.
Methionine is an amino acid. Amino acids are the building blocks that our bodies use to make proteins. Methionine is found in meat, fish, and dairy products, and it plays an important role in many cell functions.Methionine works by removing harmful breakdown products of paracetamol in the liver.

ASTYMIN C DPS is generally taken With Food.

Precautions for ASTYMIN C DPS and its Constituents


  • Drink plenty of liquids while you are taking ascorbic acid.
  • The chewable tablet must be chewed before you swallow it.
  • Ascorbic acid gum may be chewed as long as desired and then thrown away.
  • Do not crush, chew, or break an extended-release tablet. Swallow it whole.
  • Measure liquid medicine with a special dose-measuring spoon or medicine cup. If you do not have a dose-measuring device, ask your pharmacist for one.
  • Caution should be exercised in patients with history of diabetes, glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency, high iron level in the blood, anemia, any allergy, who are taking other medications, during pregnancy and breast-feeding. 

  • You should not take more of methionine, or take it more often, than your doctor ordered.
  • You should also make sure that you get enough protein in your diet. This is especially important in infants. Infants who get too much racemethionine and not enough protein may not gain weight as they should.
  • Take methionine with, or just after, meals.
  • If you are unable to swallow the capsule, the contents may be added to juice, water, or warm milk or infant formula.
  • Use a specially marked measuring spoon or other device to measure each dose accurately. The average household teaspoon may not hold the right amount of liquid.
  • Do not double doses.
  • Do not keep outdated medicine or medicine no longer needed.
  • If your rash has not improved after 10 days, check with your doctor.Tell your doctor if you are have liver disorder, mental disorder such as schizophrenia, taking levodopa for Parkinsonism or taking any other medication.
  • Do not drive or operate heavy machinery as methionine can cause drowsiness.
  • Tell your doctor if you are pregnant, planning to get pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • Do take if  allergic to methionine or any of its ingredients.
  • Do not take if having metabolic acidosis.
  • Patients with more than 10 hours of paracetamol overdose.
