Food and Nutrition

Foods to be taken
  • Whole grains and vegetables
  • Eat antioxidant foods like blueberries, strawberries, cherries, oranges, tomatoes, broccoli, carrots, spinach, apples and pears
  • Use healthy oils for cooking, such as olive oil or vegetable oil
  • Vitamins A, C, E, D, the B-complex vitamins, and trace minerals such as magnesium, calcium, zinc, and selenium

  • Milk, cheese, eggs, and ice cream and chemical food additives
  • Baked goods such as cookies, cakes, and donuts; French fries, processed foods
  • Avoid refined foods, such as white breads, pastas, and sugar
  • Meat
  • Avoid coffee and other stimulants, alcohol, and tobacco

Yoga and Exercise

Moderate exercise for 30 minutes daily, 5 days a week will be very helpful to stay physically active.

Home Remedies

  • Bed rest
  • Drink plenty of water
  • Use a warm moist towel to soothe the swollen glands
  • Apply calamine lotion to the rash if it is itchy or uncomfortable
