Prevention Tips

  • Use mosquito nets and insect repellant creams
  • Use medications to prevent the spread of the disease
  • Wear long sleeves and trousers
  • Drainage and filling of breeding sites for the mosquitoes
  • Education in the community about the disease

Watch Out

  • Thickened, ulcerated and darkened skin which may be painful
  • Tumorous growth

When to See Doctor

Consult a  doctor if any of these conditions are seen
  • Lymphoedema and skin lesions in the genital and urinary tract area.
  • Dry cough
  • Weight loss
  • Dyspnoea (difficulty in breathing)
  • Hepatomegaly (enlargement of liver)
  • Loss of appetite
